A new leap in electric mobility thanks to the ZipCharge Go charger

Normally, the most widespread concern among the public when buying an electric car is the level of range it can offer. Questions then arise such as: What if I can't find a charging point and I get stranded on the road? or How am I going to wait for hours for the car to charge? ZipCharge, a Scottish startup dedicated to charging points, has presented a solution to this problem with the manufacture of its portable charger Go.

How does Go work?

Go is an “intelligent” charger on wheels, with a size equivalent to that of a compact suitcase, designed to be simple and affordable. It works with any plug-in or electric vehicle with a type 2 socket and has a 4 kWh battery. 

It is an accessible and convenient charging solution as it allows you to charge your vehicle from home, at work or on the road, without the need for a designated parking space or access to a fixed charging point. You can carry it in the boot of your car and charge it whenever you decide in approximately 30-60 minutes, depending on its capacity and temperature. 

In addition, it is controlled through a very intuitive mobile app, capable of scheduling charging during the lowest energy cost level and offering tracking and status updates to know the vehicle's battery status at all times.

Go is characterised by being an accessible product, since it is estimated that it will cost the same as a fully installed home charger, intelligent, because it automatically schedules charging to start during the hours when energy consumption is at a lower cost, thus reducing the expenses of this phase, and flexible, as its size is no larger than that of a hand luggage suitcase, it is easily stored in the vehicle and easy to transport from one place to another. 

Although it is not yet available for purchase, it is expected to go on sale in the United Kingdom in the last quarter of this year. And while waiting to find out its final price, ZipCharge has announced that “it will have a competitive price and will be comparable to the cost of purchasing and fully installing a fixed charger”.
