The Government has officially approved the Plan Auto+, the new grant scheme for the purchase of electric and electrified vehicles that replaces and continues the MOVES Plan.

This new programme, managed by the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, is part of the Spain Auto 2030 Plan and has a clear focus: to boost electric mobility, support the European industry and make access to more sustainable vehicles easier.

What is the Plan Auto+?

The Auto+ Programme is a system of public grants designed to incentivise the purchase of electric and electrified vehicles, both by private individuals and by companies and self-employed workers.

Unlike the MOVES, the Auto+ introduces new criteria for modulating the grant, prioritising:

• 100% electric vehicles.
• Affordable vehicles.
• Vehicles manufactured in the European Union.

The programme will be rolled out in coordination with the Autonomous Communities, which will be responsible for its implementation.

Budget and duration of the programme

The Auto+ Programme will have:

• A budget of 400 million euros for 2026.
• Retroactive effect from 1 January 2026, once the official call for applications is published.

This means that purchases made from that date may be eligible for the grant, provided they meet the requirements set out in the call.

How much money can you receive?

The grant is calculated as a percentage of a maximum amount per vehicle type. In the case of electric cars (category M1), the maximum grant may reach:

• Up to €4,500 per vehicle.

Grants are also available for:

• Light commercial vehicles (N1).
• Electric motorcycles.
• Light and heavy quadricycles.

In addition, for cars and N1 vehicles, points of sale must apply an additional minimum commercial discount on the vehicle price.

Which vehicles are eligible for the Plan Auto+?

To be eligible, vehicles must meet a series of minimum requirements:

• Have a CERO environmental label.
• Not exceed the established price limits (in the case of cars).
• Be:
  • New vehicles registered for the first time in Spain.

The programme includes cars, light commercial vehicles, motorcycles and certain electric quadricycles.

Who can apply for the grants?

The following may be beneficiaries of the Plan Auto+:

• Natural persons.
• Self-employed workers and companies, provided they are registered in the corresponding census.

The grants will be limited to:

• 1 vehicle per individual beneficiary.
• Up to 10 vehicles per company.

The programme will not be compatible with MOVES Flotas Plus.

Dealerships and points of sale will play a key role in managing the Auto+ Programme, as they will be able to help customers process grant applications, provided they are duly authorised.
