The future of the automotive industry: new trends in 360 mobility

On the road towards the long-awaited "new normal", mobility is one of the main challenges we face.

Society is evolving and so is its culture. Currently, a strategic change is being proposed in the way we move around and, as a result, an increase in investment in digital and sustainable mobility solutions.

The carsharing trend and the rise of the electric car are two clear examples that more and more people are adopting these socially responsible behaviours in their purchasing decisions.

As a result, a new movement has emerged with the intention of transforming mobility as we know it today.

Smart mobility: the innovative vision of mobility

How many times have you been in a hurry and got stuck in a traffic jam? How many hours do you lose on the road each year due to traffic? As a result of this type of question, smart mobility emerges. It is a new vision of mobility that arises from the need to decongest city roads and reduce the accidents that occur on them.

It aims to revolutionise the way we get around. Its focus is on the so-called "three zeros" that are beginning to define the future of the automotive industry: zero emissions, zero accidents and zero ownership.

  • Society is advancing and is increasingly aware of sustainability and the environment. People are no longer satisfied with just living; they demand a healthy lifestyle and a high quality of life in cities. This leads to an increase in the consumption of electric cars, which reduce pollution generated by combustion cars by up to a third.
  • Car accidents caused by human error account for 91% of the total. For this reason, more and more vehicles are equipped with integrated computer systems capable of detecting the environment and applying intelligent driving techniques that reduce accidents altogether. This reduces the anxiety and stress generated behind the wheel and allows for comfortable journeys.
  • The number of people who prefer to use carsharing and rental services over buying their own vehicle continues to grow, probably due to the savings of only paying for the use you make of the car.

Its fundamental principles are: flexibility, efficiency, technology, safety and accessibility. These are the values that society is betting on.

However, how does this new vision affect the sector? The demand for electric, autonomous and shared vehicles has grown significantly in recent years. It is estimated that in 2020 alone, 26 million people demanded some of these features in the use of a vehicle. Therefore, brands must adapt to these new demands from society to remain at the forefront.

There you have it! This new type of mobility is quickly gaining momentum. And it's no wonder, considering all the benefits it brings to society.

But so you can see that it is not a mere ideal and that it is already tangible, you can take a look at the new robot Nuro R2 and the latest model IONIQ 5 from Hyundai. Like them, numerous manufacturers such as SsangYong or Mahindra are working hard on the production of autonomous and sustainable cars to make them a reality sooner rather than later.

We have already taken the first steps in smart mobility. We are pioneers in offering dealerships the possibility of being part of this innovative vision of 0 ownership and 0 emissions thanks to our carsharing project Bequikly.
