A 2019 full of successes in the sector

2019 is coming to an end, and all those things that needed to happen, or that each of us helped to make happen, have come to pass. Depending on how much importance we give to fate or how much it influences us.

Rather than talking about everything we have done at Dealerbest, which has had an impact or that we feel very proud of, we should talk about the things that, in our view, have happened significantly in our sector, more specifically in the distribution network, which is what we can say we live professionally.

“Now, dealerships are achieving digitalization with projects built by people from the sector, with prices aligned with their business bottom lines.”

This year 2019 will not pass unnoticed, not by a long shot. Regardless of the year's results, the drop in sales in some channels, the rise in others, or how much manufacturers have grown or shrunk. This year is the first year in which dealerships have started working to achieve, by their own means and this is very important, keeping that slice of the pie that was previously handed over for free to other players in this turbulent landscape.

Dealerships are digitalizing, something astonishing for those who, a couple of years ago, talked about this in forums, conferences, and other venues full of canapés, hostesses, merchandising materials, and ties. For them, digitalization was like the conquest of space or such a huge challenge that even the price had to match the magnitude of the matter.

Now, dealerships are achieving digitalization with projects built by people from the sector, with prices aligned with their business bottom lines, and with an immediate impact on their way of working and their bottom line. Paper Zero is their digitalization model, by them for them, without any opportunist having intervened.

“It turns out that dealerships have in their stock what is needed to provide mobility to people, and all they lack is something as simple as technology applied to mobility.”

In 2019, dealerships are also achieving another magnificent or magnified conquest—well, both at the same time. Are they managing to lead the world of Mobility? Mobility, a concept more suited to Fourth Millennium than to a car dealership. And I don't say this because I favor some over others; I say it because of how the concept is treated around the world. We have seen conferences, forums, professional meetings in grand halls, or less grand ones, in local, provincial, national, and international venues.

Mobility as an unknown, as a challenge for the future, or as something to decipher only within the reach of great gurus. It turns out that dealerships have in their stock what is needed to provide mobility to people, and all they lack is something as simple as technology applied to mobility, which, given the century we live in, is not complicated—putting technology into a car so it can be unlocked, locked, tracked, charged, among other modern features.

Dealerships can bring mobility to a town, a provincial capital, a big city, their workshop customers, those who buy an electric vehicle and occasionally need to drive 700 km straight, those who want a different car for a specific occasion, those who don't want a car, or whoever moves around more or less. Dealerships integrate Quikly, their mobility brand, to create a new, independent business area where prices and strategy are set with their own home, their areas, their customers, and their future in mind.

This year, great people have also been met around a table at the Hangar, enjoying a stew or oxtail, talking about life while working or talking about work while living.

This year 2019, as a song says, “but it also happens that without knowing how or when something makes your skin tingle and rescues you from shipwreck,” it happens that dealerships are preparing so that in 2020 they are talked about more by everyone and that the business they once let slip away comes back and that they are here again, where people and cars are.
