Discover the 3 reasons why city councils invest in shared and sustainable mobility

Every day there are more reasons to have a carsharing service in every town in Spain.

More than twenty local councils have already made the decision: sustainable mobility and zero emissions cannot "continue to fall on deaf ears".

In large cities, restrictions have been in place for several years to fight against pollution of the planet.

But what about towns? Isn't that precisely where there is more nature at stake?

Well, if you think so, and you want to know more about the new era of rural and sustainable mobility, stay with us because we will tell you the 3 reasons why the most modern councils in Spain already boast about their own rural carsharing service.

Welcome to the era of rural carsharing!

It may sound like a joke, but, fortunately for the planet: it is not. There are already more than a dozen towns with fully environmentally friendly cars that residents share and rent through the mobile app VIVe by Hyundai.

VIVe by Hyundai is a fascinating project that the Korean brand has been betting on for a year now. Its goal is clear: to work on making the world's first rural and sustainable carsharing service a reality.

The 3 reasons why this phenomenon is expanding so rapidly:

  • Because of the benefits generated by the council-dealership relationship at a local level

Many councils, such as Rascafría (Madrid) or Usúrbil (Guipúzcoa), have already realised that, to bring the electric vehicle closer to the inhabitants of their municipality in an affordable way, there is no better synergy than collaborating with a local dealership.

And that is the key piece to understanding why carsharing is already becoming a real transport alternative in so many towns.

In the end, it is an excellent way to bring sustainable transport closer to residents who still cannot afford it, while also generating more work for the dealership.

  • From now until 2030, there will be 200 billion euros to be distributed among projects that support sustainability

What is also clear is that, at this point in history, there is only one goal: to achieve the so-called "climate neutrality" before 2050. That is, that all the CO2 produced by human beings can be absorbed by the planet's natural cycles.

And to achieve this, the government has already allocated recovery funds, coming from Europe, to those projects that commit to being pioneers in sustainability. For example, with the 2 billion euros already reserved for specific electric mobility projects.

Therefore, it is not surprising that there are already councils putting their projects on the table to receive part of those funds, which are for nothing other than preserving the municipality where they live and from which they make a living.

  • Because rural carsharing radically improves the mobility of residents and the leisure of tourists

Last but not least, the councils that already have their own rural carsharing service admit to being delighted.

And it is that the mobility of their inhabitants, who are generally residents in semi-isolated areas, has improved considerably. Something that, according to several mayors, almost all their residents have already communicated to them.

Furthermore, it is also a great draw to attract ecological tourism. Since there are not a few people who value respect for the environment and who have already come to these municipalities to enjoy mobility that does not generate CO2 emissions.

Anyway, if you are still curious, who better to tell you than the residents themselves? Discover their stories:
