How to keep a fresh attitude in your daily work life
Spring has arrived and there is no better time than now to get excited about our work again. Whether you are in the job of your life or in a temporary position, when goals and opportunities are missing, it is easy to fall into disenchantment. People are not robots and all of us - even though...
Even when we like our company and enjoy the time we spend with our colleagues, it can be hard to approach our work the way we did on the first day. Many times we are so busy emptying our to-do list that we don't stop to look at the big picture or even think about the future... Big mistake! Don't let demotivation keep you from making the most of your job.
We are sure that if you put some of these tips into practice, it will be easier for you to rediscover that freshness in your day-to-day life.
Start a new project. Surely you often find yourself carrying out procedures that you think could be more efficient, but no one dares to change them “because it has always been done this way.” Trying to improve these processes is a new and exciting professional goal.
Join projects already underway. If you don't have the resources to start your own project, look around you. There are surely projects in development where you can lend a hand. Not only will you learn from the experience you gain, but it will also allow you to interact with new colleagues and people who normally aren't involved in your daily tasks.
Get trained. Starting a training course or experimenting on your own can be an opportunity to acquire new talents or discover ones you thought you didn't have.
Learn from others. At any point in your career, you can learn from other people's experience and from the conclusions they have drawn along their professional path. This information will help you shape your own goals. What's more, getting to know your coworkers this way will give you the feeling of having started over.
Celebrate every advance, no matter how small. Pace your energy; don't invest it all in reaching “the finish line.” Set all kinds of goals and track them. As you complete them, you'll feel more motivated, and even if the final result isn't what you expected, you'll feel satisfaction when you look back.
Get enthusiastic. Passion can be found in many ways. Whatever you do, if you have a good attitude and treat it as a learning process, you'll find much more satisfaction.
Put your flexibility to the test. If routine turns against you and you notice some intolerance to changes and unexpected events, try making small modifications in your day-to-day life. For example, if you have breakfast outside the office every morning, don't always go to the same place or always with the same people. Small changes like these will improve your ability to adapt to new situations, and it will be easier for you to launch more important transformations.
Ask for feedback. Sometimes, the best option is to listen to the opinion of our colleagues and loved ones—those who, with a different point of view, can give us advice we might use to improve our day-to-day.
Turn problems into opportunities. Turn obstacles into new opportunities for learning and improvement. Change your vocabulary. When you have a problem, don't see it as such, but as a challenge to overcome that brings with it an opportunity to learn and improve. We recommend removing from your repertoire those phrases you usually use to say you can't do something. “Yes, and...” instead of “Yes, but...”.
Take care of yourself. Don't let daily chores take up all your time. Look after yourself. Identify what limits you and eliminate it; discover what gets your heart racing and embrace it with enthusiasm. Be aware and act accordingly.
