What would your company gain with a fresh people team?
On Tuesday we had the great opportunity to share this question with a group of women from the automotive industry and related sectors (automotive brands, dealerships, media, facility services) with extensive experience and the intention of catching the fresh philosophy.
Joining us were: Encarnación Bernabé (Head of Used Vehicles and RAC at FCA), Gloria Vélez (General Secretary of the Volvo Dealers Association), Paloma Maza (Key Accounts Manager at Línea Directa), María Rodríguez (Training Manager at Hyundai), Sara Soria (journalist and international juror for the Womens World Car of the Year award) and Cristina Fernández-Pacheco (Facility Manager at ISS World)
The debate brought many contributions, but if we had to highlight one word above all others it was attitude. Here is a summary of some of the many interesting ideas shared during the breakfast:
- The importance of having fresh people in organisations to inspire the rest of the team and for these strategies to go hand in hand with management.
- How positive it would be to train middle management and the need for them to foster these attitudes and ways of doing things.
- When asked whether fresh people are born or made, there were responses supporting both proposals, but they agreed that although some people are born with certain fresh skills, it was also important to have the attitude of wanting to learn them and put them into practice, inspiring the team in their day-to-day work.
- There was also agreement on the shortage of women in the sector and especially in positions of responsibility. Those who manage to get there really have to be “very scrappy”.
- The most debated question was: how do teams led by a Fresh person change? Having strategic positions led by fresh professionals is the key to change in organisations.
Fresh people
We challenge our guests, and you who read our blog, to plant the fresh seed in your organisation today, whatever position you are in… It is contagious.
We will certainly repeat these breakfasts soon to share experiences and opinions with the women of the sector. It is our responsibility to make things happen. What would change in your environment if today you do something differently, something fresh…? Try it and let us know…
